In 2023 we popped up at Share Fair and nurtured our bilingual learning program at Skinner City Community Garden. Mountain Rose Herbs continued hosting our workshops at their Mercantile annex and the Free Herbalism Project. We provided wellness supplies to folks with covid as we have done throughout the pandemic, partnered with Huerto de la Familia miembros to make fire cider at the Churchill garden and, thanks to Michael Blair at the Human Path, sponsored one person to attend a beginning herbalism course delivered in Spanish. We survived the speed bumps of health issues thanks to community support and awesome volunteer dedication!
This year we’re working to expand our relationships with underserved folks, nurture the garden project and add free mobile clinic to our offerings. Stay tuned for ways you can participate – or maybe you have something to offer that we need to hear about?
To those who reached out and waited patiently during our longish response time, our sincere apologies. To those who persisted and those who continued generous support of our various projects, we are humbled and grateful for your enduring generosity.

May 2022 Update
It’s been awhile since our last update – we’ve been keeping busy!
Overwintering in a pandemic was a time for wellness care packs and covid care packs.
We taught a fire cider class at the Huerto Churchill garden and the community made 5 gallons to distribute!
In March we began hosting workshops at Mountain Rose Herb’s annex. There’s a different topic each time, usually a demonstration of making an easy herbal remedy and participants take home a sample as well as the instructions to make it themselves. You’ll find us there the last Sunday of each month from 1-3pm. This month’s offering will be “All About Rose.”
BotanicFest happened this year – after a long pandemic pause and a rain delay – and we were there too!
We did some design work on our learning garden at the Skinner City Community Garden in Eugene OR and have begun implementing that intention. We’re so excited to partner with Huerto de la Familia once again on this garden patch to develop a bi-lingual sharing space where people will come together to learn and share knowledge about the plant world in Spanish & English!

All about Rose
More than just a beautiful flower, rose offers many beneficial medicinal properties. Join the HWBEugene herbal team to learn about this versatile plant. From skincare to tasty treats, and even promoting wellness, rose is a plant to delight in. Participants will learn about the different properties of rose, sample edible and body care products, and walk away with easy recipes they can do at home.
This is a fundraiser for HWBEugene. Sliding scale suggested donation is $5 to $50. We’re an all-volunteer non-profit organization and every dollar goes toward the cost of making more quality herbal products that we distribute for free.

What’s a pandemic without a little solidarity?
Since putting together the relief supplies for the Diné Nation’s devastating bouts of coronavirus last year, we’ve been busy!
We’ve been:
Organizing inventory.
Providing custom care packages to sick Latinx families..
Collaborated in February with Huerto de la Familia to provide 167 wellness packs for their member families during their annual garden registration events.
We’ve received a seed grant from HWB headquarters.
Most recently, we’ve partnered with Huerto to begin developing a bilingual outdoor herbalism classroom at Skinner City Farm. We are very excited to pull the blanket off of that bed and dig in with fresh enthusiasm!
