Fire Cider Workshop 2022

Did you know that HWBEugene offers a donation-based class on the last Sunday of every month?

This month’s class is a hands-on Fire Cider Workshop. You will learn why fire cider is a staple for herbalists around the world! Take part in a hands-on workshop to learn how to make your own, and get a sample to take home with you.

Where: 152 W 5th Ave., Eugene Oregon, in the Mountain Rose Herbs Annex (Next to the Mercantile)
When: Sunday, October 30th from 1-3pm

* Sliding-scale donations are welcome to help offset the costs of the class, but anyone is welcome to attend, even if they are unable to donate. Herbalists Without Borders Eugene is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization and every dollar goes toward the cost of making more quality herbal products that are distributed for free. Please note that remedies made during this workshop will be provided to underserved folks in our community, so please plan to mask up.

October Update

We were busy in late Summer!

Share Fair, a monthly community resource event in Eugene, finally reset after a long pandemic ‘holiday’ and we were there with our herb care station August 21, 2-6pm at Monroe Park.

Share Fair

In August we served up some respiratory remedies at the Mountain Rose Herbs Annex on the 28th. Fire season is no joke, and HWBEugene herbal team was there to roll out some herbal remedies for respiratory relief. We shared some recipes & formulas, and went over plant possibilities and their constituents regarding seasonal lung complaints throughout the year.  Participants were able to sample remedies and take home their own sample with recipe instructions.

In September, we held a Soothe Your Nerves event, which taught attendees how nervines work, which herbal allies to call upon when the need strikes, and how to make a handy herbal preparation to add to their herbal wellness kit.

Stay tuned for updates about our Harvest and Holiday time fire cider / elderberry tincture classes in the upcoming months as we approach the end of the year!

May 2022 Update

It’s been awhile since our last update – we’ve been keeping busy!

Overwintering in a pandemic was a time for wellness care packs and covid care packs.

We taught a fire cider class at the Huerto Churchill garden and the community made 5 gallons to distribute!

In March we began hosting workshops at Mountain Rose Herb’s annex. There’s a different topic each time, usually a demonstration of making an easy herbal remedy and participants take home a sample as well as the instructions to make it themselves. You’ll find us there the last Sunday of each month from 1-3pm. This month’s  offering will be “All About Rose.”

BotanicFest happened this year – after a long pandemic pause and a rain delay – and we were there too!

We did some design work on our learning garden at the Skinner City Community Garden in Eugene OR and have begun implementing that intention. We’re so excited to partner with Huerto de la Familia once again on this garden patch to develop a bi-lingual sharing space where people will come together to learn and share knowledge about the plant world in Spanish & English!

HWB Eugene Fundraiser Event

All about Rose

More than just a beautiful flower, rose offers many beneficial medicinal properties. Join the HWBEugene herbal team to learn about this versatile plant. From skincare to tasty treats, and even promoting wellness, rose is a plant to delight in. Participants will learn about the different properties of rose, sample edible and body care products, and walk away with easy recipes they can do at home.

This is a fundraiser for HWBEugene. Sliding scale suggested donation is $5 to $50. We’re an all-volunteer non-profit organization and every dollar goes toward the cost of making more quality herbal products that we distribute for free.
